| Getz is competent, economical, practical supermini that's cheap to buy and run, but it hasn't got as much character as its European rivals. Don't expect it to inspire excitement or affection. |

| Getz is almost a mini-MPV with it's roomy'one-box' cabin and high roof, which makes Hyundai's slightly larger Matrix look unnecessary. Cheaper than mainstream European rivals, it comes in three- or five-door form with a choice of petrol engines or a 1.5 diesel. The 1.3 petrol is the most fun to drive, as the 1.6 and diesel are nose-heavy and noisy. All are reasonably economical, if not very refined. Getz boasts no state-of-the-art technology and no clever tricks: just efficient no-nonsense A-to-B motoring at an affordable price. It's easy to drive, with a good driving position and a well laid-out cabin, but as its plain, old-fashioned face suggests, it's rather dull. The cabin feels dated, too, and it isn't finished quite to European standards or preferences. It doesn't have as sophisticated a collection of safety features as, for example, a Clio or a Fiesta, though it's sturdily built and should prove reliable. |
